Suspect arrested in Glynn County shooting

GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. () — Authorities in Glynn County apprehended 33-year-old Deandra LaShawn Fairley early on Friday morning following a pursuit that concluded with a crash.

During a routine traffic stop, an officer from the Glynn County Police Department (GCPD) approached Fairley’s vehicle and noticed what appeared to be an illegal substance inside. Fairley then drove off, prompting a chase that ended when his car collided with a tree. After the collision, Fairley reversed his vehicle and struck the officer’s patrol car.

Fairley faces charges including fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer and aggravated assault on a public safety officer, both of which are felonies. Additionally, he is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, having an open container of an alcoholic beverage in the vehicle, and a taillight violation, which are misdemeanors. He was subsequently taken to the Glynn County Detention Center.
