INDIAN HARBOUR BEACH, Fla. – Several individuals attempted to steal an ATM from a Truist Bank branch in Indian Harbour Beach using a pickup truck and a chain, according to the local police department.
Around 5:30 a.m. on Monday, police arrived at the bank and, based on witness accounts and gathered evidence, concluded that the suspects, who were clad in dark clothing and masks, tried to drag the ATM from its base by attaching it to a pickup truck with a chain, as detailed in a press statement.
Officials said the attempt was unsuccessful after the truck became stuck in the dirt.
According to witness reports to the police, the suspects abandoned their incapacitated truck and escaped towards a nearby getaway car, a dark-colored Tesla, the statement noted.
The Tesla was last seen speeding westbound over the Eau Gallie Causeway, police said.
The police department is asking anyone with information related to this incident to contact Detective Enith Clermont at (321) 773-3030.
