In Culpeper, Va., a man has been taken into custody after allegedly driving his SUV through a “No Kings” protest, reportedly hitting at least one individual.

The Culpeper Police Department (CPD) reported that Joseph R. Checklick Jr., 21, a resident of Culpeper, was apprehended after officers observed him navigating recklessly through the protesters.

The “No Kings in Culpeper” protest took place in front of a Walmart, and as it concluded, participants were crossing the parking lot when Checklick allegedly “intentionally sped his vehicle towards the crowd as it was dispersing,” according to police.

Although officers said the SUV hit one person, they had not received a report that anyone was hurt as of late Saturday afternoon.
