BARTOW, Fla. (WFLA) — Those attending varsity football games at Polk County schools will soon see ticket prices go up.
Beginning with the 2025-2026 school year, the price of regular admission will increase from $6 to $7, Polk County Public Schools announced Monday.
Prices will be adjusted again in the 2027-2028 school year, going from $7 to $8.
The school district has announced a change aimed at benefiting its over 10,000 student-athletes and boosting the “maintenance of high-quality athletic programs and covering operational expenses.”
According to officials, the additional proceeds will be used to enhance equipment and support transportation and security for all athletic events.
“We recognize the vital role athletics play in our students’ educational journeys and how these events unite our community,” stated Dan Talbot, PCPS’ senior director of athletics. “These modest changes will enable us to keep offering safe and well-appointed facilities and valuable experiences for our student-athletes, as well as manage the rising costs of organizing athletic events.”
The last ticket price increase occurred in 2011. The district intends to maintain discounted ticket rates for students and provide season pass options.
