Pooler mayor announces 2 new city ordinances

POOLER, Ga. () — The city of Pooler passed two new ordinances unanimously on the second reading, Mayor Karen Williams shared Thursday.

The initial ordinance revises a current ordinance to bring it in line with the state’s model flood ordinance. It mandates that new constructions must be elevated at least four feet above the lowest nearby grade.

Additionally, the minimum open space requirement for all subdivisions increases to 10%, promoting creation of more green spaces.

The subsequent ordinance establishes regulations on illicit discharges and dumping to safeguard all waterways. There will be strict enforcement measures and penalties for any violations.

Williams expressed, “I applaud our city staff for their hard work in presenting numerous ordinances and amendments to the council, tackling many that were outdated and not aligned with state codes.”
