BLOUNTVILLE, Tenn. (WJHL) – Tri-Cities Christian Academy football is entering a new era this fall with the arrival of first-year head coach Robbie Norris leading the team.

Norris, who previously served as head coach at Sullivan North and as an assistant at Rye Cove, is now working with a mix of seasoned seniors and promising young players. This blend of talent was evident during the Eagles’ season opener against South Haven Christian on Friday night.

Trailing 34–0 at halftime, TCA made a strong comeback with four touchdowns in the second half, though they ended up losing 40–26. According to Norris, the determination displayed by the team reflects the strong foundation being established within the program.

“The kids and the culture here are excellent,” Norris stated. “The administration’s support is fantastic. The kids are awesome, and the parents too. I’m at a good point in my career to be here, and I’m very excited.”

This fall’s schedule features several non-conference road tests, including games at Hurley and Twin Valley in Southwest Virginia.

Senior players are enthusiastic about contributing to this cultural development. Wide receiver and linebacker Levi Furrow appreciates the expanded coaching staff and a clear strategy for the season.

“Having a coach for every position is really beneficial because it allows us to have dedicated time with each coach to improve individually for the benefit of the whole team,” Furrow explained. “Our goals for this season include winning a championship, developing both spiritually and physically, and fostering a brotherhood that will hopefully promote a lasting legacy.”

Tight end and linebacker Emmett Kelly echoed that message, adding that younger players are already looking up to the seniors on the roster.

“I love our coaches and we have a bunch of young players on our team that are starting,” Kelly said. “The younger guys look up to us, so if they see us slacking off, they’re going to slack off. But if they see us keep fighting when we’re down, they’re going to keep fighting with us.”
