Apopka man accused of reckless driving in crash that injured a motorcyclist in Hillsborough County


HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – A man from Apopka found himself in legal trouble in Hillsborough County after allegedly driving erratically, leading to a collision with a motorcycle on I-4.

Authorities reported that 22-year-old Preston Nascimento was taken into custody on Saturday night along I-4 near Plant City.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Nascimento was behind the wheel of a Kia Seltos, racing down the interstate alongside another vehicle. A silver Toyota Camry reportedly sped past a trooper at close to 100 mph.

When Nascimento attempted a similar maneuver, his Kia struck a motorcyclist, ejecting the rider. The motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a local hospital for treatment.

Nascimento faced charges of reckless driving resulting in serious bodily harm and was later released on bond.

The Florida Highway Patrol is actively searching for the driver of the silver Toyota Camry. Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact them at *FHP (*347).
