EVANS, Ga. – Families at Brandon Wilde Senior Living observed the summer solstice and highlighted Alzheimer’s awareness on Friday, June 20.

The day’s events were part of the Alzheimer’s Association’s nationwide Fight the Darkness initiative. This yearly fundraiser is designed to boost awareness about the disease, focusing on care, support, and ongoing research.

Residents were able to choose the activities they want to participate in, like balloon volleyball.

“Millions of individuals are battling this disease, and awareness is growing as many are being diagnosed earlier,” stated Greg Byrge, the executive director at Brandon Wilde Senior Living. “Our focus is not just on research but heavily on family support because the disease impacts the entire family, not just the individual.”
