SAVANNAH, Ga. () — The Assembly of Phantasms (TAOP) is a performance group that specializes in dark, theatrical renditions of popular literary works. They have previously reimagined Alice in Wonderland, Grimm’s Fairy Tales, and The Masque of the Red Death. This time, their focus is on Shakespeare.

Blending cabaret style performances with literary text, TAOP is presenting their version of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” In this classic comedy by the Bard, they explore the intense dynamics between Oberon and Titania, the king and queen of the fairies, and the consequences when they interact with the world of humans.

Through spellbinding performances featuring song, drag and burlesque, TAOP brings the fantastical fairy world to life.

Boris Krawloff, last year’s Mx. Savannah and winner of So You Think You Can Drag, plays the role of the mischievous sprite Puck. “I was obsessed with Shakespeare during my childhood and dreamed of becoming a Shakespearean actor one day,” Krawloff explained. “That path didn’t materialize in any way, shape, or form, so it’s both unexpected and fittingly ironic that drag has eventually led me to a chance to fulfill that passion.”

dream come true.”

The show also features previous cast members Magnolia Minxxx, Ella Mentary, Valerie America Lavelle, Marty Milquetoast, Corbin Monoxide, Miss Ginger Darlin’ and Vandor Mahler. Cassie Cadel from The Bay Street Bombshells and Amerys The Empress from Club One Cabaret join this production.

This theatrical experience will be one that lingers long after the final act. The Bard would surely be proud.
