Saltville police arrest man accused of crimes against children

SALTVILLE, Va. (WJHL) — The Saltville Police Department arrested a Southwest Virginia man and charged him with numerous crimes against children.

A news release reported that a 20-year-old individual from Pound, Steven Fleenor, has been detained following a probe conducted by Saltville police, the Wise County Sheriff’s Office, and the United States Marshals Service.

Fleenor was reportedly arrested without incident and charged with the following:

  • Object sexual penetration
  • Taking indecent liberties with a minor
  • 3 counts of abduction
  • 3 counts of displaying grooming materials to a child
  • 3 counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor

As of Monday, Fleenor was being held in a Southwest Virginia Regional Jail facility.

“These charges are among the gravest offenses in our community,” commented Saltville Police Chief Bryan Lynch in the release. “I am extremely proud of the dedication and determination demonstrated by the officers of the Saltville Police Department and our allies. Their relentless efforts ensured that a hazardous person is now apprehended.”
