SALUDA, S.C. () – Allegations of an improper relationship with a student have led to the arrest of a Saluda High School teacher, as reported by the Saluda County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday.

On August 7, the sheriff’s office announced via Facebook that Melissa Groleau was apprehended by deputies at the High School Complex and taken to the Saluda County Detention Center. She is facing several charges, including two counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor 2nd degree, Assault and Battery 2nd degree, and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor.

Authorities initiated an investigation on August 7 after receiving “serious allegations” from school resource officers. The case was forwarded to the sheriff’s office, resulting in the collection of evidence which led to Groleau’s arrest.

“The Saluda School District has fully cooperated with the Sheriff’s Office to ensure that a complete and transparent investigation is conducted,” the statement partially reads.

This is an ongoing investigation, and no further details have been released.

Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Saluda County Sheriff’s Office.

This is a developing story.
