Storm Team 3: Savannah hits 90°, temps to continue throughout

Thursday afternoon was hot and humid in the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry. Highs were in the upper 80s to lower 90s.

Savannah had its first 90° or warmer high temperature with a high of 91°F.

The average first 90° or warmer day is April 30, so having it occur on May 15 is a little late.

Expect warmer and more humid afternoons for the remainder of the week. Afternoon high temperatures will reach the low to mid-90s from Friday through the weekend.

Heat index values will be in the upper 90s to over 100°F on Friday and Saturday.

A weak disturbance is expected to swing through the southeast on Sunday which may lead to a few isolated showers or storms.

Sunday will be a hot day, even with low-end storm chances. A few isolated storms may become strong to severe.

Temperatures will remain above normal in the lower 90s as that system clears out early next week.

If you have plans to be outdoors over the coming days, remember to stay hydrated and take frequent breaks in the shade to cool down.
