MACON, Ga. (WASV) — The SIAC preseason polls predicted Savannah State Football to finish sixth in the conference.

The announcement came Tuesday at SIAC Media Day in Macon.

Last season Savannah State finished 5-5 overall, and 4-4 in the conference.

The Tigers had big wins against each of the predicted top three teams for the 2025 season: Albany State, Clark Atlanta and Tuskegee.

In his fourth year as head coach, Aaron Kelton attended the event alongside graduate linebacker Darrian Bell and Jadon Adams, an Islands High School graduate, to represent the Tigers.

At the event, Adams announced he will be switching from quarterback to wide receiver for the upcoming season.

Kelton said the starting quarterback competition in still wide open, which includes incoming freshman from New Hampstead Rashawn Truell.

“We’ve got a couple of guys who are going to compete for that spot,” said Kelton. “I expect it’s going to be a dogfight.”

Savannah State Football will open the 2025 Season at home on Aug. 30 at 6 p.m. against Edward Waters.
