Cooling assistance accepting appointments starting Sunday

CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. () — Starting this Sunday at 7 p.m., locals will have the opportunity to schedule appointments for the cooling assistance initiative, managed by the Economic Opportunity Authority (EOA).

Residents of Chatham County can make appointments by calling 912-721-7910.

There are a limited number of appointments available, and clients must meet income guidelines and supply verifiable information.

Eligibility requires that a family’s yearly income aligns with the fiscal year 2025 Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) guidelines.

Applicants must submit a recent electricity bill, social security cards for all household members, a photo identification, and proof of income from the past 30 days for each adult.

Applicants will be required to come to the EOA Cuyler building at 618 West Anderson Street for their appointments.
