() Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy told reporters at a news conference Tuesday that he is concerned and will take action against airline companies using AI to set personalized ticket prices.

“I can guarantee we will investigate if anyone does that,” Duffy replied to a question about his concerns regarding Delta and other airline companies’ use of AI to set ticket prices based on individualized factors like income.

When addressing Delta directly, Duffy said that he will take its recent denial of using AI to set personalized ticket prices at “face value.”

Delta was under fire from U.S. lawmakers over concerns relating to their partnership with AI pricing company Fetcherr and highly publicized plans to increasingly utilize AI revenue management technology.

“We would engage very strongly if any company tries to use AI to individually price their seating,” Duffy concluded.
