AUGUSTA, Ga. () – Hailing from Augusta and pursuing his passion for wrestling, Sean Legacy has dedicated eight years to achieving his dream of becoming a WWE Superstar.

Recently, Legacy has been living his dream by being a part of the WWE ID program, as well as appearing on WWE shows such as Evolve, and NXT.

On Tuesday, May 20th, 8 p.m. eastern time, Legacy will be featured on NXT again, in what many are calling the biggest match of his career.

We sat down with Legacy to talk about his career, his future, and how much he’s appreciated the support he’s gotten from home over the years.

For our guests who don’t know, talk about who you are and what you do.

“I’m Sean Legacy, a professional wrestler, currently signed with WWE as a WWE ID Prospect. I am incredibly thankful and consider it a huge blessing as it has significantly advanced my career.”

How long have you been wrestling?

“My wrestling journey spans eight years, with global travel experiences that include a transformative three-month stint in Japan, all contributing greatly to my career.”

What is WWE ID?

“At first it was like, it’s just a logo, here’s some money, branch out there for all the other indy wrestlers, now it is evolving into something bigger. WWE now has another new show called WWE Evolve, that streams every Wednesday night on Tubi, and now some of us get to be on NXT, that’s live every Tuesday on the CW Network. Just the progression with the WWE ID program, and I think it’s only been out about seven months, and it’s getting bigger and bigger and bigger, so it’s awesome.”

You’ll be on NXT tomorrow in a big triple threat match. Talk about that.

“It’s not official yet, but what I’ve been reading I’m guessing it’s for a number one contender match for the NXT North American title.”

What’s that mean for you?

“It’s crazy, I feel like it’s happening so fast, even though I’ve been at this for eight years but it’s one of those things where now since I’m in WWE, it’s like those eight years have been like two weeks. I’m very blessed, I’m very grateful for it, and I can’t wait for it tomorrow night. It’s very surreal but it’s going to hit me as soon as I get to that building.”

You’re from Augusta?

“Born and raised, I went to Evans High School.”

Growing up, did you always want to wrestle and what was the reaction when you told them that?

“Their reaction was have a back up plan, in case it doesn’t work out, and I do not believe in back up plans, because here’s the thing with having a back up plan. When you have a goal in mind and maybe you’re not seeing it work out, or you fail once, usually what people will do is, once they fail towards their goal, they’ll start researching more on their back up plan, and then they’ll start seeing the back up plan as ‘this is really what’s going to happen,’ and then your goal is just, you’re losing it, and then your back up plan becomes your goal, well guess what? Now, your back up plan is your goal but what happens when you’re not happy with that one? Now, you’re going to have another back up plan, and it’s just going to keep coming. Jim Carey said it best, he had a quote with his dad, and basically what it was, his dad was an electrician and he hated his job and he got fired, and Jim Carey said that ‘You could fail at something you don’t love, so might as well fail at something you do love.'”

Anything you want to say to the people that supported you?

“Thank you, seriously, thank you very much. It means the world to me, to the ones that have been there since the very beginning that have supported me, shown me love. For those who haven’t seen me yet, and if you’re too busy and you can’t watch NXT tomorrow, I have, and it’s very rare two indy shows in June. One is at PWE at the Savannah River Brewery, and the other is Viral Pro Wrestling in Augusta. So if you don’t have a chance, please, come out to one of those two shows, and come watch me because I promise you, I will be your favorite.”

Sean understands that there’s still a lot of work to do, but he’s thankful for the journey so far.

He encourages people to watch him on NXT, May 20th at 8, on the CW Network.

Keep an eye out for a future interview with Legacy where we talk to him more about the early years in his career and more.
