YEMASSEE, S.C. () — A manhunt is underway in Colleton County, according to information from the Yemassee Police Department (YPD).

The Colleton County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) and YPD are actively looking for Emily Higgins. She is described as a female standing 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighing roughly 120 pounds, with green eyes and brown hair, and was last seen wearing a light gray outfit.

A stolen car reportedly made its way onto Highway 21 near I-95, where it then broke down and caught fire. Police state that both the driver and the passenger left the area on foot.

The driver was caught with the help of K9 Rio and has been identified as Justin Bessinger. CCSO and YPD continue to search for Higgins, who is suspected to be wanted in several jurisdictions.
