ORLANDO, Fla. – SeaWorld Orlando is inviting visitors on an exhilarating journey to the Arctic, but this time with a twist of excitement.

The park has unveiled Expedition Odyssey: Fire & Ice, a brand-new upgrade to its beloved indoor flying theater ride, slated to launch later this spring. This fresh attraction promises a thrilling narrative experience.

Building upon the success of the original Expedition Odyssey, this reimagined adventure offers guests a captivating mission, enhanced pre-show features, and a high-definition cinematic journey through the planet’s most formidable terrains.

Expedition Odyssey: Fire & Ice (United Parks & Resorts)

“We’ve crafted an entirely new entry experience complete with a themed pre-show. Our story-driven, high-definition attraction is designed to captivate audiences and transport them on a mesmerizing journey,” shared Justin Newton, senior vice president of project delivery for United Parks & Resorts, SeaWorld’s parent company.

Visitors begin their adventure by stepping through a revamped hangar and bustling research station. Here, they engage with the equipment, technology, and narratives of those brave enough to explore such a harsh environment. Inside the research station’s core, they board a cutting-edge research drone craft, receiving final instructions from a research scientist before takeoff.

The adventure then unfolds as guests soar above towering mountains, skim across vast glaciers and icebergs, race alongside rivers and waterfalls, and daringly approach an active volcano, all while encountering iconic Arctic wildlife throughout their journey.

Opened last year, the original Expedition Odyssey experience featured real Arctic footage captured by a SeaWorld team that spent a month stationed in the Arctic to produce the 4.5-minute film.

The ride system — a row of seats that creates a “flying” effect in front of a large theater screen — uses wind, mist, and motion effects to blur the line between simulation and reality. The minimum height requirement to ride is 39 inches.
