Second Tropical Depression Develops in Gulf, Predicted to Intensify

ORLANDO, Fla. – Air Force Reserve reconnaissance missions have identified a closed circulation center, leading to the formation of Tropical Depression Two in the Bay of Campeche.

The system is currently moving toward the west-northwest, and the National Hurricane Center predicts it could enter Mexico as a potential tropical storm by Sunday night.

If the system does reach tropical storm status, it would take the name Barry.

The government of Mexico has issued a Tropical Storm warning for the Gulf Coast of the country.

Tropical Depression Two is expected to produce 3-6 inches of rainfall with isolated maximums up to 10 inches of rain.

The rainfall is expected across the Mexican states of Veracruz, San Luis Potosi, and Tamaulipas.

This system will not impact Central Florida.
