CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Although the Illinois baseball team concluded its regular season with a defeat, they are now gearing up for the postseason, commencing with the Big Ten Tournament.
Illinois is the 11-seed in this year’s tournament and will face seven-seed Michigan and two-seed UCLA in the first round of pool play.
The current Big Ten Tournament format consists of four pools, each containing three teams. The winners from each pool will advance to a bracket-style competition, culminating in the fight for the conference championship.
The Illini will open play against the Wolverines on Tuesday, May 20 at 10 a.m., and then play the Bruins at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 21.
Illinois finished the regular season 29-23 overall and 14-16 in Big Ten Play.
