MINCO, Okla. (KFOR) The Minco softball team was involved in a school bus crash Monday night, officials say.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation reported that all lanes on SH-152/SH-37, running both east and west, were shut down Monday night at County Road 2760. This location is west of Minco near Cogar in Grady County, and the closure was due to a crash.

Kevin Sims, Superintendent of Minco Public Schools, stated that the Minco Softball team was involved in the incident, leading to the school being closed on Tuesday.

Sims shared on social media, “Our Minco Softball team was in a serious crash this evening west of Minco. Several bus occupants were critically injured. Thus, we will not have school tomorrow. Updates will be provided as they become available. We ask for prayers for our student-athletes, coaches, and their families during this difficult time.”

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol confirmed that multiple students sustained injuries. At least six students were thrown from the bus and several were taken to hospitals in the Oklahoma City area for treatment.

It is unclear what caused the crash.
