LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, human remains discovered in the Ocala National Forest are believed to be those of a missing individual whose bicycle was discovered several days prior.

Michael Connell was last observed on May 29 near the junction of Kismet Road and CR-445, as stated by the sheriff’s office on social media. This post was later revised on Saturday morning.

“Human remains were found in the Ocala National Forest and are tentatively identified as Michael Connell,” the updated post indicates. “The investigation remains ongoing, and further information will be shared as it becomes available.”

The post described Connell as having a broken leg from a vehicle accident, not owning a cell phone, and being known to frequent the Umatilla Library.
