In Washington County, Tenn., a father and son were taken into custody following a reported child abuse case on Tuesday.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) received a call at approximately 10:30 p.m. from a woman who stated that her estranged husband was pursuing her on Bob Crookshanks Road.
The victim identified her husband as 35-year-old Gary Wayne Necessary III, according to a news release from the WCSO.
“Deputies spoke with the victim, who said she had gone to Necessary’s home to drop off one of her three children to their father. Although two of the children were intended to stay overnight, Necessary appeared intoxicated upon her arrival, prompting her to leave with all three children. Necessary then followed them in his vehicle, tailgating and eventually side-swiping hers,” the WCSO’s report indicated.
Necessary was arrested around 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday alongside his father, Gary Wayne Necessary Jr., who allegedly helped his son evade police.
Gary Wayne Necessary III faces charges of three counts of aggravated child abuse, one count of aggravated domestic assault, and vandalism. As of Thursday, he is being detained without bond at the Washington County Detention Center.
Gary Wayne Necessary Jr. was charged with accessory after the fact. He reportedly made his $10,000 bond.
Both are set to appear in court Thursday.
