Authorities in Sullivan County, Tennessee have issued citations to two workers from Romantic Escapades Adult Superstore in Kingsport following an inquiry into alleged cases of prostitution and sexual activity, according to police.
The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) shared in a news statement that the investigation was prompted by “numerous community complaints suggesting that prostitution and sexual activities were taking place” at the store.
These complaints indicated that inside theatre rooms, where adult films were screened during operational hours, prostitution and sexual acts were allegedly taking place, as per the SCSO. Additional concerns were raised about visitors potentially being exposed to sexually transmitted infections.
“The investigation conducted by detectives determined that the allegations contained in the citizen complaints were occurring within the business,” the SCSO stated in the release.
On Monday, two employees were issued citations for prohibited activities, according to the SCSO.
The investigation determined that patrons visiting the theatre rooms would reportedly pay a fee to enter a closed section of the business. Within the section, there were five single-person viewing rooms and three larger theatre rooms for multiple people with couches, chairs and large screens.
