Former TV anchor charged in mother's killing

A tragic incident unfolded in Wichita, Kansas, as a 47-year-old woman faces charges of first-degree murder following the fatal stabbing of her elderly mother. This somber development was announced by local authorities on Tuesday, casting a shadow over the community.

The Sedgwick County District Attorney, Marc Bennett, confirmed that the charges were brought against Angelynn Mock. This decision came after a thorough review of the investigation carried out by the homicide unit of the Wichita Police Department.

The grim events transpired last Friday when police were called to a residence in Wichita. Upon arrival, they discovered 80-year-old Anita Avers suffering from multiple stab wounds. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Avers succumbed to her injuries.
