ORLANDO, Fla. – A man was shot Friday afternoon when a fight broke out in front of a homeless shelter in Orlando, according to the shelter.

Orlando Union Rescue Mission said in a statement that two men were in line waiting to enter the shelter around 1:30 p.m. when they began fighting.

The mission said one of the men then ran to his car, grabbed a gun and shot the other man.

The injured individual quickly rushed to a clinic within the shelter, where he was eventually picked up by an ambulance and transported to the hospital. The Orlando Fire Department informed News 6 that they responded to a “medical emergency” and conveyed one person to Orlando Regional Medical Center.

According to a statement from the Orlando Union Rescue Mission, the shooter was apprehended. The shelter described the incident as a “unique anomaly,” noting it is the first shooting in its 77-year history.

No other information, including the name of the suspected shooter, has been released.

New Zealand's Prime Minister has said he will back any plans to remove Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor from the line of royal succession. It comes as British ministers are understood to be considering legislation to remove Andrew from the line of succession once a police investigation has concluded. Christopher Luxon's announcement that he would support removing the shamed former prince came after Australia's Prime Minister Anthony Albanese vowed to do the same. A spokesperson for Mr Luxon, New Zealand's premier, said: 'If the UK Government proposes to remove Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor from the order of succession, New Zealand would support it. The UK Government has said any proposals would come after the police investigation concludes.'
