6 accused of abusing, neglecting non-verbal man at Greeneville group home

GREENE COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — Six individuals have been charged in connection with the alleged mistreatment and disregard of an intellectually disabled person living in a Greeneville group home.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) initiated an inquiry in August following a report from Adult Protective Services. The TBI’s Medicaid Fraud Control Division began probing claims of abuse and neglect concerning a vulnerable adult at the group home, which is run by Support Solutions.

During the investigation, agents found that several employees, including direct support professionals and the home’s residential manager, were allegedly involved in what was described by the TBI as “ongoing abuse and neglect.”

The TBI noted in a news release that the male victim is intellectually disabled and non-verbal.

A grand jury returned indictments charging six people with the following:

  • Kashira Jackson, 39
    • 2 counts of aggravated neglect of a vulnerable adult
    • Abuse of a vulnerable adult
    • Failure to report abuse/neglect of a vulnerable adult
    • Bond: $40,000
  • Tyler Rodriguez, 26
    • 2 counts of aggravated neglect of a vulnerable adult
    • Failure to report abuse/neglect of a vulnerable adult
    • Bond: $40,000
  • Bradley Arell, 18
    • 2 counts of aggravated neglect of a vulnerable adult
    • Aggravated abuse of a vulnerable adult
    • Failure to report abuse/neglect of a vulnerable adult
    • Bond: $40,000
  • Deven Anderson, 25
    • 2 counts of aggravated neglect of a vulnerable adult
    • Aggravated abuse of a vulnerable adult
    • Failure to report abuse/neglect of a vulnerable adult
    • Bond: $40,000
  • Shane Harrison, 36
    • Failure to report abuse/neglect of a vulnerable adult
    • Bond: $3,000
  • Christopher Owens, 36
    • Failure to report abuse/neglect of a vulnerable adult
    • Bond: $3,000

All six suspects were arrested on Tuesday and booked into the Greene County Jail.
