SMYTH COUNTY, Va. (WJHL) — Thirty-four people were arrested after a joint operation conducted by multiple agencies, the Smyth County Sheriff’s Office announced on Friday.
According to the sheriff’s office, the individuals were arrested on outstanding warrants on Thursday.
The following agencies were involved in the operation:
- Smyth County Sheriff’s Office
- Federal Bureau of Investigation
- U.S. Marshals Service
- Virginia State Police
- Smyth County Probation and Parole
- Marion Police Department
- Chilhowie Police Department
- Saltville Police Department
The 34 people were wanted for 56 crimes, according to the sheriff’s office. Those crimes reportedly ranged from the distribution of narcotics to aggravated bodily injury.
More charges were filed against some suspects after new crimes were identified, the sheriff’s office reports.
The sheriff’s office did not release any identities or specific charges in a news release issued on Friday.
