COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. () — The South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on I-95 in Colleton County Tuesday.
The crash occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m., Corporal Nick Pye said. It is unclear how many vehicles were involved as of 10:15 p.m.
I-95 southbound near the 41-mile point is anticipated to remain closed for a prolonged duration. Authorities have advised drivers to steer clear of the area if possible and to anticipate delays.
A detour is in place.
For an alternate route, you can follow these directions from the SCHP: “Take Exit 42 off I-95 South, turn left onto US 21, then right onto US 17A. Next, turn left onto Salkehatchie Rd/Castle Hall Road (a detour in Yemassee due to construction), then right onto US 17, and rejoin I-95 at the 33-mile marker.”
