CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. – In the early hours of Saturday, SpaceX is set to launch a Falcon 9 rocket from Florida’s coast, with the mission of deploying Starlink satellites into low-Earth orbit. This ambitious endeavor marks another step forward in SpaceX’s efforts to expand global internet coverage.

The launch window for this mission is scheduled to open at midnight on Friday and will remain active until 3:17 a.m. on Saturday. During this period, SpaceX aims to successfully send 29 satellites skyward from the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, demonstrating the company’s ongoing commitment to advancing space technology and connectivity.

This particular launch will also be noteworthy for featuring the maiden voyage of a brand-new first-stage booster. After propelling the rocket past the Earth’s atmosphere, this booster is expected to return to Earth, executing a precision landing on the droneship aptly named “A Shortfall of Gravitas,” stationed in the Atlantic Ocean.

SpaceX’s innovative approach to reusing rocket components is a cornerstone of their strategy, aiming to reduce costs and improve the efficiency of space travel. As this mission unfolds, it will not only contribute to the Starlink constellation but also showcase the company’s evolving capabilities in space exploration and technology.

The launch will mark the first flight for the first-stage booster supporting the mission.

Following stage separation, the first stage will land on the A Shortfall of Gravitas droneship in the Atlantic Ocean.
