The Kingsport Aquatic Center in Kingsport, Tenn. (WJHL), launched its Drool Party on Wednesday, introducing a new five-day format designed to accommodate dogs of all sizes and their owners’ schedules more effectively.
The event offers an open outdoor shallow pool area for dogs to enjoy. The inaugural evening of the five Drool Party sessions commenced on Wednesday, granting larger dogs over 25 pounds the first opportunity to frolic in the water.
The aquatic center’s Program Coordinator, Madison Gump, said this year marks the twelfth year of the party.
“We’re simply providing them with another choice,” she said. “Another option for spending the evening with their dogs. Many dogs enjoy swimming at lakes or in pools. That is what we’re facilitating here tonight—bringing the community together and offering them an alternative for their furry companions.”
The remaining schedule for the 2025 Drool Party is as follows, according to Kingsport’s website:
- Sept. 4; 5-7 p.m.: Small dogs only, 25 lbs or less
- Sept. 5; 5-7 p.m.: All dogs
- Sept. 6
- 10 a.m.-noon: All dogs
- 2-4 p.m.: Small dogs only, 25 lbs or less
- Sept. 7
- 10 a.m.-noon: Small dogs only, 25 lbs or less
- 2-4 p.m.: Big dogs only, over 25 lbs
Gump said registration is open on Kingsport’s CivicRec website, and tickets can also be purchased at the door.
“You can pre-register online at swimkingsport.com for $5. If your schedule is uncertain and you need to decide later, door registration is available for $7 per dog. Just ensure you have the updated vaccination record with you.”
There is a limit of two dogs per person, and the dogs’ handlers must be over age 18. All dogs must have a leash with them, in case it’s needed.
