The Savannah State football team achieved a significant victory last week by defeating Miles, catching many off guard with their choice of quarterback.
Freshman Fabian Walker stepped up as the starting quarterback and delivered an impressive performance. He completed 17 out of 24 passes for 204 yards, including three touchdowns, and didn’t throw any interceptions. Coach Aaron Kelton announced that Walker will continue as the starter for the upcoming game against Kentucky State.
Explaining the decision, Kelton said, “It’s really about consistency. Walker managed to effectively drive the offense, which is the direction we want to continue. We scored 45 points, and it’s crucial to keep putting points up, which he achieved. So we’ll stick with him as the quarterback.”
In the Tigers’ first two games, Christian Burks earned the start. However, during the open week, Coach Kelton felt the team needed a spark.
Savannah State’s game with Kentucky State kicks off at 6 p.m. on Saturday at Wright Stadium.
