ST. JOSEPH, Ill. (WCIA) – The St. Joseph-Ogden boys’ soccer team showcased an impressive performance in the 2025 regular season, losing only one match.
Aiming for a strong postseason, the Spartans are eager to improve on last year’s run, where they were ousted by eventual 1A state champions U-High in the Sectional Semifinals of 2024.
Adding to their achievements, the team played nearly the entire season without their starting goalkeeper, Jaxson Colvin, who was benched due to an injury.
In Colvin’s absence, Quinn Stahl took over the goalkeeping duties, despite having no prior experience in that position. He has excelled but attributes the team’s success to more than just his own efforts.
“My back line has been a huge support,” Stahl remarked. “They’ve been great at keeping the pressure off me. Plus, Jaxson Colvin, even while injured, has been guiding me and teaching me the ropes, which has been incredibly helpful.”
The team’s consistent performance is largely credited to their strong chemistry and unity, fostered through off-field bonding and summer workouts.
SJO plays host to Uni-High for a Regional Championship on Saturday.
