Storm Team 3: Turning up the heat this week with very little heat relief

Good morning – Storm Team 3 Meteorologist Alysa Carsley here – let’s have a fabulous Tuesday!

Our mornings will begin much like they did last week—warm and muggy, with temperatures in the mid-70s. The most significant change in our scorching new pattern will emerge in the afternoon.

Although recent days have been hot, with feel-like temperatures reaching 100 degrees, the upcoming days promise even more heat. High pressure anchored to the east coast is to blame for this drier pattern, providing minimal relief from the heat.

Temperatures will rapidly soar to the upper 80s by lunchtime, with humidity pushing feel-like temperatures to around 100 degrees. As the afternoon progresses, under a mix of sun and clouds, highs are expected to reach the mid-90s, with heat index values approaching 105 degrees.

Only a stray shower is possible each afternoon so if you see the rain, you will be one of the lucky ones! Make sure to take frequent breaks from the heat and enjoy the a/c.
