Storm Team 3: Pleasant weather continues into this weekend

SAVANNAH, Ga. () — The pleasant pattern we’ve been enjoying will continue through the weekend.

Friday offered a warm and predominantly sunny day across the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry, with temperatures reaching the mid to upper 80s. A north-northeast breeze contributed to reduced humidity levels.

Forecast Details

High pressure located to our north will maintain this calm weather pattern. Look for a north to northeasterly breeze at times on Saturday, with possible gusts up to 25 mph along and east of I-95.

Temperatures will remain fairly mild with 60s in the morning and mid to upper 80s for the afternoons through the weekend into early next week.

An area of low pressure forming off the Southeast Coast will ensure that breezy conditions persist through the middle of next week. The interaction between this low pressure and the high pressure to our north will keep winds prompt at the beginning of the new week.

If the system tracks further west, rain chances may be in play for the first few days next week but guidance is keeping our area dry.

Tropics

The tropics remain quiet close to home as wind shear is too high for any development in the Gulf, Caribbean, or Southwest Atlantic.

A tropical wave emerging off the African coast is showing robust thunderstorm activity, yet remains disorganized. The National Hurricane Center currently assigns it a 40% chance of evolving into a tropical depression or named storm.

Slow organization is possible next week but the dry air and wind shear that has been keeping the basin quiet will win the battle in the short term.

There continues to be no tropical threats for the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry.
