Storm Team 3: Heat, humidity & storms continue this week

SAVANNAH, Ga. () – Our Monday follows a familiar trend, with heat and storm chances returning to the forecast. Anticipate isolated showers and thunderstorms from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. today, with temperatures rising to the mid to upper 90s.

A heat advisory is active for Montgomery and Toombs counties from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today. The intense heat injects additional energy into the atmosphere, raising the likelihood of any developing storms becoming strong or severe. The Storm Prediction Center has designated our area with a minimal risk for isolated severe storms this afternoon and evening.

Tuesday will continue with isolated rain chances, but as the week progresses, scattered showers and storms become more probable. With increased rain coverage, high temperatures will drop back to the lower 90s.

This uptick in rain is tied to a newly formed low-pressure system off the coast, which is expected to move west across Florida and into the Gulf. The system currently has a 30% chance of developing into a tropical system by mid-to-late week. While it’s moving westward and poses no immediate threat locally, we’re monitoring it closely in case it increases our rain chances later this week.
