SAVANNAH, Ga. () — Skies clear out overnight and a much drier weather pattern sets in for the new week.

The morning’s cloud cover cleared, giving way to plenty of sunshine. While some showers did occur, most areas enjoyed a pleasant, dry Sunday.

Beware of patchy fog developing around sunrise. It should dissipate quickly, leaving us with sunny skies on Monday. Temperatures will reach average highs, ranging from the upper 80s to lower 90s, with a heat index near 100°.

West winds will keep the sea breeze near the coastline for most of the day. There’s a 30% chance of showers and storms in the afternoon and evening due to a frontal boundary passing through our area.

A cold front arriving in the region will significantly alter the weather this week. Expect cooler temperatures and a substantial decrease in humidity for most of the workweek.

Mornings will feature temperatures in the 60s while afternoon highs will be 5° below average, in the mid-80s.

Hurricane Hunters examined 99-L today and found it disorganized. Consequently, the National Hurricane Center has reduced the development chance to 30%.

Again, it will need to be watched over the long run due to the way the Northwest Caribbean Sea can flare systems back up.

Fernand remains a tropical storm as of late Sunday. It will continue to move north-northeastward over the North Atlantic, affecting no land areas.

There are no tropical threats to the Coastal Empire & Lowcountry at this time.
