Storm Team 3: Tracking the Tropics this weekend

Storm Team 3: Monitoring Tropical Activity This Weekend

This weekend, the primary influence on our weather will be Tropical Depression Three, currently located just off the coastline. It is anticipated to develop into Tropical Storm Chantal later today. Although the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry are expected to face minimal effects, there will be a higher likelihood of scattered showers and storms, particularly close to the coast. Anticipate gusty winds and a heightened risk of rip currents in coastal areas. As the system moves northward towards Charleston, that region is projected to encounter the most notable impacts.

We are Tracking the Tropics in detail here

As we look ahead, the typical summer pattern will return on Monday, bringing hot and humid weather. Temperatures are forecasted to rise to the mid to upper 90s from Monday through Wednesday. There will be a low chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms each afternoon.

By the end of the week, expect a higher chance of scattered storms to return as a new front develops to our north.
