Storm Team 3: The wet and cool trend continues

Storm Team 3: More rain and cooler temperatures persist

SAVANNAH, Ga. () – Anticipate more showers through your Sunday, contributing to already heavily saturated soil and elevating flood risks. Although today’s rainfall amounts aren’t projected to equal those from yesterday, most locations can expect an extra 1–2 inches of rain. Given the ground’s limited capacity to absorb additional moisture, flooding might emerge rapidly. We are currently experiencing a level 2 slight risk for excessive rainfall today.

The front that has stalled and is causing this wet spell will move southward by tomorrow, remaining in that position for the rest of the week. This situation will maintain the presence of scattered storms in the forecast, accompanied by cooler temperatures. Highs will linger in the low 80s until midweek, before climbing to the mid to upper 80s as the weekend approaches. Rain chances are expected to lessen approaching the weekend, paving the way for a warming trend.

In the Tropics:

There is increasing activity in the tropics. The low-pressure system responsible for our current rain has now been labeled Invest 95L, with a moderate likelihood of development. It’s predicted to shift eastward, away from our area. Should it develop, it is anticipated to remain offshore as a “fish storm.”

We are also monitoring another wave emerging from the west coast of Africa. While its development chances are currently low, a clearer understanding of its potential will emerge in the upcoming days.
