Storm Team 3: Heat & humidity continue along with storm chances

Stormy weather returned to Savannah, Georgia, leading to a hectic afternoon and evening along much of the coast. The area experienced intense storms characterized by heavy rain, frequent lightning, and strong winds.

Sunday morning promises a warm and humid start, accompanied by plenty of sunshine. The primary concern will be the soaring temperatures, reaching into the mid-90s, with heat indices climbing into the mid-100s.

A Heat Advisory is in effect for Montgomery & Toombs County from 11 AM – 8 PM Sunday.

Remember to stay hydrated & protected from the heat and sun. Monday will also be another very hot day across the area!

There is a likelihood of isolated storms, each potentially delivering frequent lightning, heavy rain that could cause localized flooding, and powerful gusts of wind.

A developing area of low pressure has a 20% chance of developing into a tropical depression or named storm over the next seven days.

At the moment, guidance slowly drifts this system westward into the Gulf, but we will keep an eye on trends & give you the latest.

Rain chances will trend upward again for Tuesday through Friday, with more fine-tuning to exact timing of the highest rain chances expected in the coming days.

There are no imminent tropical threats for the Coastal Empire & Lowcountry.
