3 Tampa Bay cities among nation's fastest-growing economies: study

A recent national study identifies Tampa as the second fastest-growing economy among mid-sized U.S. cities from 2019 to 2023.

Conducted by CoworkingCafe, the study analyzed cities across the U.S. that experienced consistent growth, fueled by increasing incomes, job opportunities, business activities, infrastructure improvements, and population growth.

In just four years, Tampa’s production of goods and services surged 43%, highlighting its economic expansion as one of the fastest in its category.

Additionally, the study found that unemployment in Tampa is down by 2% and Tampa residents are earning more, with the average paycheck growing 38%.

“These findings confirm what we already know — Tampa is on an upward trajectory,” stated Mayor Jane Castor. “Our city strengthens daily, from creating well-paying jobs to drawing in global investments. Tampa is clearly proving to be an exceptional place to live, work, and plan for the future.”

St. Petersburg also featured in the rankings, coming in at #4 among mid-sized cities, while Clearwater ranked #6 among small cities, solidifying the Tampa Bay area as a leading region nationwide.
