Arrest made in Candler Co. fatal hit-and-run

CANDLER COUNTY, Ga. () — An arrest was made Monday by the Candler County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) in connection to a fatal hit-and-run from May.

Raymond Quillet surrendered to authorities and was charged with felony hit-and-run, as well as failure to report an accident that led to injury, death, or property damage. His arrest was made nearly two months following the incident.

Authorities had previously increased the reward for tips leading to an arrest in June. The individual who provided the crucial information leading to Quillet’s arrest declined the reward.

Tiffany Carter of Glennville was killed May 24 on Highway 46 West between Canoochee Road and Hiawatha Road.

In a post on Facebook, the CCSO stated, “This case has been a major focus for our agency since the early hours of Saturday, May 24th, when Ms. Carter was struck and abandoned on Highway 46 West, between Canoochee Road and Hiawatha Road in Candler County. Her tragic passing had a significant impact on our community, and we have remained dedicated to finding the truth.”

The investigation remains open, the CCSO said.
