JASPER COUNTY, S.C. – Authorities in Jasper County have apprehended a suspect linked to a bank heist that occurred on Wednesday, October 22.
The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) was alerted to a robbery in progress at TD Bank, situated at 13 University Parkway (Route 112) in Bluffton, via a 911 call on October 22.
Responding swiftly, JCSO deputies, alongside the Hardeeville Police Department (HPD), arrived at the scene. Witnesses provided a description of the suspect as a Black male who had fled on a bicycle.
Investigators traced the suspect’s route and discovered he had switched to a small white SUV to escape. The bicycle used in the crime was found abandoned in a nearby wooded area.

The suspect was identified as Elton Clinton Atkins from Summerville, South Carolina. Just hours after the robbery, Atkins was apprehended in the Charleston area following a traffic stop by North Charleston Police officers.
Atkins is currently detained at the Al Cannon Detention Center and awaits transfer back to Jasper County.
