The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) has imposed a significant fine on an acetylated wood facility in Kingsport, Tennessee, for exceeding permissible air pollution limits. This facility, which is part of a joint venture with Eastman Chemical, was found to be emitting volatile organic compounds (VOCs) at levels more than 12 times the legal limit. The penalty was levied against Accoya USA, the company responsible for operations at Eastman’s Kingsport site.
