Woman accused of stealing $30K from Texas dealership, spending money on TikTok

In Lubbock, Texas, Mashell Badley, aged 55, was taken into custody on Tuesday, facing charges of theft after she confessed to embezzling more than $30,000 from her workplace.

Documents acquired by local news affiliate KLBK on Thursday revealed that the Lubbock Crime Suppression Unit was called to Adobe Auto Sales located at 1606 50th Street. The visit was prompted by reports of an employee, Badley, allegedly pilfering significant amounts from the business. Employers claimed she had misappropriated over $30,000 within a few months’ span.

Upon questioning, Badley confessed to the authorities that she had indeed stolen $23,000 from two separate accounts over the last two months. She explained that she found herself in a difficult situation after relocating to Lubbock. According to the affidavit, she used the stolen funds to cover bills and to purchase gifts for “friends and family on TikTok.”

Police investigators uncovered transactions and evidence substantiating the claim that Badley had taken over $30,000 from the company.

Following her arrest, Badley was taken to the Lubbock County Detention Center, from which she has since been released on bond.

KLBK also reported in July that former Adobe Auto Sales manager Joshua Weston, 41, was charged with Criminal Mischief, Theft and Embezzlement after stealing over $200,000 from the company.
