JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Salvation Army of Johnson City revealed on Tuesday that it has been given a donation of linens for all 15 rooms in the new veterans wing.

The donation was made by the Washington County Federated Republican Women’s Club (WCFRW).

“We are extremely thankful to the WCFRW for gathering funds and buying new bedding, allowing each of our veterans to begin with a clean slate as they enter the new unit,” Major Maureen Diffley, the corps officer, stated in a news release. “It is heartwarming for them to experience the support and care from our Washington County community.”

The WCFRW raised funds throughout the summer for The Salvation Army and its “More Than a Bed” campaign.

“More Than a Bed” aims to sustain critical shelter and wraparound services for the community, according to the release.

Anyone interested in supporting The Salvation Army is invited to donate online or by mailing a donation to PO Box 1715, Johnson City, TN 37605.
