BURTON, S.C. () — Emergency services responded to reports of a truck that had crashed into a building Friday, officials said.

According to a Burton Fire District spokesperson, the crash occurred on the Savannah Highway shortly after 5 p.m. Three people were injured.

A collision occurred between a pickup truck and a car, leading to the truck crashing into a building, according to the spokesperson. The car’s driver was trapped and required transport to the hospital with potentially critical injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck was also taken to the hospital. Additionally, a third individual, a worker inside the building, sustained injuries but did not need hospital treatment, the spokesperson stated.

The worker was reportedly only feet away from where the truck struck the building.

Traffic on the highway was delayed for over an hour but has since been reopened.

Burton Fire, Beaufort EMS, and the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident. This marks the sixth time this year that Burton firefighters have been called to rescue individuals trapped in vehicle accidents.
