ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – The Orange County Sheriff’s Office has unveiled footage capturing the dramatic events of a prolonged car pursuit that unfolded on New Year’s Day.

The situation arose when an officer attempted to stop a Toyota Corolla for running a red light at the intersection of Silver Star Road and Hiawassee Drive, according to OCSO reports.

Instead of complying, the driver sped away, initiating a chase that saw a helicopter following the vehicle as it traveled to Powers Drive near Clarcona Ocoee Road.

The OCSO statement detailed that several deputies, guided by updates from the helicopter, tried to intercept the car, but the driver persistently evaded capture.

Eventually, the aviation team observed the Corolla making a brief stop at a residence on the 4500 block of Westgrove Way, where firearms were discarded before the vehicle resumed its flight.

The chase concluded on the 700 block of Errol Parkway, where deputies reported that seven individuals exited the vehicle and fled on foot.

Eventually, an aviation unit spotted the Corolla stopping at a home in the 4500 block of Westgrove Way, dropping off guns, and then continuing to flee the area, the release notes.

However, the car ultimately stopped in the 700 block of Errol Parkway, where seven people got out and ran, deputies explained.

Investigators announced they were able to catch and arrest Tyrone Henderson, 18, who now faces charges of fleeing/eluding a law enforcement officer and possession of a weapon in the commission of a felony.

“The six other juveniles who were in the vehicle were detained and released,” the release concludes.
