CONCORD, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Authorities have confirmed that Malik Taylor, a beloved TikTok star, tragically lost his life in a single-car accident in Concord last week.

The Concord Police Department reported that officers responded to Lapis Lane NW at approximately 7:44 a.m. on Wednesday, August 20, following a report of a serious crash.

As officers arrived, they found a 2016 black Nissan Rogue SUV overturned at the bottom of a steep 20-foot drop, off the side of the road.

The 28-year-old Taylor was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene by Cabarrus County EMS. The Medical Examiner’s Office, along with Concord Police’s Criminal Investigation Division, found no evidence of foul play, though alcohol is thought to have been a contributing factor.

The official cause of death was listed as multiple blunt force injuries from the crash.

Malik was well-known for his positive and dynamic presence on TikTok, where he amassed a significant following. Off the platform, he was fondly remembered by his fraternity, Alpha Kappa Psi-Zeta Phi, with many heartfelt tributes celebrating his life.

“He was a beacon of light to all who knew him, consistently bringing laughter, joy, and a welcoming smile that illuminated any room,” the fraternity expressed on social media.

“Though your time with us was far too short… You will be deeply missed, but your spirit will continue to inspire us,” the fraternity wrote.

Taylor’s family has expressed their appreciation for the outpouring of support they’ve received during this difficult period. His fraternity encouraged others to join them in offering “comfort and prayer” to his grieving loved ones.
