TITUSVILLE, Fla. – In Titusville, a registered sex offender has been taken into custody this week for allegedly exposing and touching himself while in a vehicle. Authorities suspect there could be additional victims involved.
Antonio J Kent, a 46-year-old from Mims, is facing multiple charges, including exposure of sexual organs, habitual felony violent offender status, fleeing from law enforcement with sirens activated, resisting arrest non-violently, and violating the conditions of his pretrial release, according to a news release from the Titusville Police Department.
Police responded to a reported indecent exposure incident around 3:12 p.m. on Sunday in the 2000 block of Cheney Highway, as stated in the release.
After meeting with the reporting party, the officers were able to identify Kent as the suspect, determining he had been inside of a gray four-door Nissan sedan and had left by the time law enforcement arrived, the police department said.
Come Thursday, Kent was spotted around 6:41 p.m. driving a blue Ford SUV, according to the release. When a traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle and Kent was informed he was a wanted man, he then attempted to drive away, the release states.
Kent eventually stopped the SUV near the 1400 block of Norwood Avenue and was taken into custody there, police said. He’s being held on no bond amount at the Brevard County jail, according to the release.
The police department noted it’s investigated “prior complaints of similar incidents occurring” and suggested there may be other victims connected to the case who have yet to come forward.
“We understand how difficult it can be to come forward in these situations, but we want the community to know we are here to support you. We are grateful to the brave individuals who have already come forward, and we remain committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone in our city,” Detective Sergeant Bryan Nelson said in a statement. “We continue to encourage anyone with additional information related to this case, or any other prior cases to come forward.”
Police also released the following photographs depicting Kent’s known vehicles:
